We are committed to working with contractors and vendors who value sustainability and treating workers fairly. Below are the minimum requirements, established by state and local authorities, that each vendor and contractor is expected to uphold.  Thanks for caring!

No Child Labor
Contractor and suppliers will not use child labor in the production of any garment or performance of any services. The term “child” refers to a person younger then the local legal minimum age for employment, or the age for completing compulsory education, but in no case shall any child younger than (16) years of age be employed in the production of any garment. 
 
No Forced Labor
Contractor and suppliers will only employ persons whose presence is voluntary. Contractor and suppliers will not use any forced or involuntary labor, including but not limited to, prison, bonded, indentured labor or otherwise. 
 
Coercion and Harassment
Contractor and suppliers ensure each employee is treated with dignity and respect, and will not use corporal punishment, threats of violence, or other forms of physical, sexual, psychological, or verbal harassment or abuse. 
 
Discrimination
Contractor and suppliers will not discriminate in hiring and employment practices, including salary, benefits, advancement, discipline, termination, or retirement, on the basis of race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, political opinion or disability.
 
Fair Compensation

Contractor and suppliers will comply, at a minimum, with all applicable wage and hour laws, including minimum wage, overtime, maximum hours, piece rates and other elements of compensation, and to provide legally mandated benefits. Where local industry standards are higher than applicable legal requirements, Contractor and suppliers will meet the higher standards. 

Health and Safety
Contractor and suppliers will provide employees with a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, providing, at a minimum, access to water and sanitary facilities, fire safety, and adequate lighting and ventilation. Contractor and suppliers must take adequate steps to prevent accidents and injuries related to work or otherwise on vendor owned properties. 

 Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
Contractor and suppliers will respect the rights of employees to choose, form, associate, organize and bargain collectively, in a lawful and peaceful manner, without penalty or interference, in accordance with applicable laws. 
 
Protecting the Environment
Contractors and suppliers will comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations. The vendor must protect indoor and outdoor environmental health by adhering to all applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to air, water, ground, and sound quality and chemical and waste management. The vendor must continuously work toward mitigating negative environmental impacts in daily operations.
 
Informed Workplace

Contractors and suppliers will take appropriate steps to ensure that the provisions of this Code of Conduct are communicated to employees, including the prominent posting of a copy of this Code of Conduct, in the local language and in a place readily accessible to employees, at all times.

Transparent and Cooperative

The Contractor and suppliers must give full disclosure and keep The Standard Stitch (“TSS”) informed of all practices and resources related to production. If at any time TSS believes work being performed by the contractor and suppliers in not in accordance with this agreement, TSS will give notice to Contractor. TSS agrees to deliver notice and shall describe how the work performed, including any deliverables resulting from such work, does not meet the requirements of our standards. 

Subcontractors and Homework
Contractor is not permitted to use subcontractors, without approval. Homework must not be used.

Compliance with Laws
Contractor and suppliers agree to perform all of its obligations in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations. Contractor and supplier shall obtain and maintain all appropriate permits, licenses and certificates that are required in connection with the performance of services.
